English Translation
The wolf, Nara, and the human, Sayoko,
Playing in the forest, the two are friends.
They go to the sea, pick flowers,
Holding mushrooms, they laugh together.
The wolf is the enemy; it eats humans.
Most people think so.
Someday they'll be separated; they know it all too well,
Yet still, they laugh now,
"Forever together."
Surely, they were born into the wrong lives.
The kind two made a promise:
"Even if we are torn apart,
We will hold no grudge, feel no hate."
Sayoko's mother worried deeply:
"Wolves are dangerous—stay away from them!"
Sayoko's father, with a gun in hand,
Shot Nara; the two were friends.
After that, Sayoko cried for a while,
And never again could call Nara's name.
At least, she wished:
"When I am alone,
I hope you are not alone."
In heaven, Nara cried for a while,
